WEKOLLET
SustainabilitySmart Recycling AI/MLCircular Economy
An AI/ML enabled Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) that incentivizes plastic recycling by converting collected plastic waste into high-quality pellets for manufacturing. Its AI-powered sorting enables seamless collection, and categorization of plastics, providing real-time tracking, transparent rewards, high quality plastic pellets and actionable data insights that support sustainability goals
Role
Product Operations Manager
Overview
Wekollet is an AI/ML-enabled Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) platform developed by Sakula, a pioneering digital plastic waste aggregation company in Nigeria committed to advancing environmental sustainability. Designed for FMCGs, large enterprises, residential communities, and public institutions that struggle with inefficient plastic waste management, poor recycling participation, contamination, and lack of reliable sustainability data, Wekollet incentivizes plastic recycling through smart, hotspot-based aggregation and digital engagement tools that encourage consistent user participation. By enabling real-time tracking, rewards, and smart sorting, the platform converts collected plastic waste into high-quality, recycled plastic pellets for manufacturing, helping organizations reduce waste disposal costs, meet ESG and regulatory requirements, and secure clean recycled materials for circular packaging.
As the Product Operations Manager, I led the project from concept to launch, focusing on product development, operations, and market readiness. My role included developing a comprehensive Product Requirements Document (PRD), defining a strategic product roadmap, and designing a go-to-market strategy tailored to sustainability managers, FMCGs, and institutional partners. I drafted pitch decks for potential investors and worked closely with engineering teams and local artisans to supervise the construction of the plastic pellet processing factory. Ensuring that Wekollet’s hardware, software, and downstream processing capabilities were operationally aligned to deliver consistent quality, scalability, and impact.
Wekollet’s solution aims to transform the economy by formalizing plastic waste recovery, unlocking value from waste streams, and integrating recycling directly into industrial supply chains. By creating a reliable pipeline of high-quality recycled plastics, the platform supports local manufacturing, reduces dependence on imported virgin materials, and lowers the environmental and public health costs of plastic pollution. Consequently, it drives job creation, enables data-driven sustainability reporting, and positions recycling as a viable economic activity, laying the foundation for scalable circular economies across Nigeria and other emerging markets.
My Role & Key Contributions
Supervised the construction and operational setup of the plastic pellet processing factory, coordinating engineers, and local artisans to ensure seamless integration between physical infrastructure, processing equipment, and digital workflows.
Authored the Product Requirements Document (PRD), defined the strategic product roadmap, and designed the go-to-market strategy for Wekollet, aligning product vision with user needs, operational realities, and business objectives.
Developed pitch decks that clearly articulated Wekollet’s value proposition, market opportunity, and execution strategy, aligning product storytelling with measurable environmental impact, user traction, and revenue performance.
Key Impacts
- Supported 364 active plastic waste suppliers by incentivizing responsible recycling behavior, significantly increasing plastic recovery rates in high-traffic urban locations and actively reducing plastic pollution in landfills and public spaces.
- Enabled green job creation and sustainable income opportunities by integrating individuals as active plastic suppliers within Wekollet’s recycling ecosystem.
- Supported ESG compliance for businesses by providing data-driven sustainability metrics linked to measurable recycling outcomes.
Reflection
Building Wekollet taught me that sustainability only creates real impact when it meaningfully improves users’ quality of life, not just when it solves environmental problems. By incentivizing recycling, users not only enhance their quality of life but also adopt healthier, more responsible lifestyles.
Let’s build products that create real impact.
I’d love to discuss these projects in detail, share insights on product vision, strategy, and development, or explore collaboration opportunities.
